Attachment and The Brain: The Impact of Chronic Trauma

This presentation is a brief look at the attachment cycle (secure and insecure) between infants and primary caregivers, the formation of brain structure that results and the effects of abuse, neglect and/or chronic stress on the infant brain. It speaks directly to the relationship between women and their children and impacts the lives of girls (and boys) long term.   As Zontians we support many local agencies that serve women and their children, many of whom have experienced chronic stress and trauma.  Understanding this material can help inform our work with this population.
