Club member, and ZontaUSA ERA volunteer, Katherine Cleland, coordinated the stops of the ERA “Driving the Vote for Equality tour” in Portland, Seattle and Spokane.  Zonta club of North Puget Sound collaborated with Seattle NOW, Washington State NOW, and AAUW- Seattle, along with Gender Equity Movement (GEM) Seattle on the events.

The historic “Golden Flyer II”  and the ERA Clipboard champions visited Lumen Field for the Seattle Reign FC Soccer Game on Sunday afternoon of mother’s day, and went from there to the new Seattle Waterfront park to collect signatures and educate about the ERA.

Monday morning, we were able to book 15 minutes with Seattle Mayor, Katie Wilson, where she had great remarks about the persistence needed to achieve true equality, and she signed the Mayors for ERA petition, and joined the group for a photo op with the car and drivers.  Then they were off on the long drive to Spokane.
We got some great press coverage, including this favorable piece by Fox News Seattle.  https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1S6FLCRYVM/    All in all a great visit.

The Driving the Vote Tour has ended, and now the campaign will move into phase 2, a nationwide effort to elect representatives in the House and Senate who will be Equal Rights Champions, and pass the resolution to recognize the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment.  Learn more at www.era-now.org or www.drivingthevote.org
