Zonta Club of North Puget Sound Announces Grant Recipients for 2024

Zonta North Puget Sound raises funds throughout the year, and provides grants to local community organizations serving to Build a Better World for Women and Girls. 

Each year our Grant committee reviews applications and chooses several for our annual grants. 

This year’s winners are:

ZONTA OF NORTH PUGET SOUND AGENCY GRANT RECOMMENDATIONS 2024 DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS ARC: Resource for those with intellectual or developmental disabilities, learning how to navigate challenging systems.  The program Zonta will fund is the ICAN Women’s Group which meets monthly to help women with self-advocacy, leadership and self-determination skills. They ae encouraged to become active on community boards and committees in Snohomish County. Our funds help with activity/workshop costs CAMPFIRE: Serves youth from ages 5 – 18.  Program clubs and activities focus on helping youth develop essential skills that will have long term benefit. Through clubs youth participate in community service projects, learn to self advocate in challenging situations, and practice making healthy lifestyle choices. Our funds help with these activities COCOON HOUSE: Transition housing for youth under 18.  Provides temporary shelter for those who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness. Program provides support in building independence and stability. This is the only program in Snohomish County serving minors.  Our funds would help with emergency needs. CONNECT CASINO ROAD: Program serves some of the most vulnerable women and families in the Casino Road area. Holistic case management in basic needs, family relationships, education and employment, English classes, etc.  Most participants are immigrants and many have histories of trauma.  Our funding will help a mother’s group, that was formed  by 10 women in the program with the goal of  learning self-empowerment, leadership and advocacy. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES: Provides services to women who have been impacted by intimate partner violence. Specific program to be funded is the ‘Rapid Response’ program, which helps with immediate needs for survivors, who often show up with up at DVS with nothing. GIRLS ON THE RUN: Program is an After-School program integrating physical activity with with social-emotional learning, and life skills.  Operates on campuses of elementary and middle schools. Funding provides scholarships for 12 girls to participate. MONROE GOSPEL MISSION: Housing and services for women who have been homeless.  Case management provides life skills, relationship skills, self advocacy.  Funds would provide services for one woman for a full year. NOTES TO MEMBERSHIP: ·      We opted not to fund Housing Hope Teen and Young Parent Program this year, but will spearhead a supply drive for them within the next few months. ·      Several other agencies also had volunteer opportunities ( other supply drives, yard work, help with garage sales, and other events) that we will participate in and will be asking other Zonta members to help with.
